Full-Time, San Francisco

Crunchyroll is looking for world-class front-end web developers to work on our websites and other HTML5-based application platforms. The ideal candidate is a full-stack web developer with a preference for front-end work. Qualified candidates are highly technical and love keeping up with the latest web technologies. They are capable of building a Javascript+CSS MVC framework from scratch. They love to optimize page load times, handwrite clean, semantic markup for both humans and machines. They ask "that's an interesting website, I wonder how they implemented it" and then proceed to inspect the DOM and network requests. They are software engineers with strong technical design principles, not hackers.

Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2-3 years experience at a media or tech startup preferred
  • Expert in frontend (HTML, Javascript, AJAX, CSS, JQuery, Angular)
  • Expert in backend (PHP, Python, Java, MySQL, MQ, Symfony, Solr, HTTP, Linux)
  • Must be able to learn quickly and pick up new technologies

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science
  • 3+ years working with Javascript, HTML, CSS in a professional setting
  • Strong fundamentals in algorithms and networking
  • Expertise in Javascript and CSS
  • Proficiency in RDBMS such as MySQL
  • Familiarity with MVC frameworks
  • Familiarity with code design principles and common patterns
  • Experience in automated testing a plus
  • Proficiency in PHP (Symfony) a plus
  • Strong communication skills and team player
