HOPSTYLE is looking for an experienced Sales Engineering Manager to join our SF-based team. This position will oversee all of our technical merchant account efforts, including the early and late stages of merchant on-boarding: from site and feed evaluation and review to technical account management support between merchants, affiliate networks and our engineering team to the first review and release of the product inventory. He/she will also be responsible for the on-going review of merchant data quality and the technical triage of bugs and reporting. The Sales Engineering Manager is ultimately responsible for increasing merchant revenue via a robust site product offering without bugs, tracking issues or any other barriers to success.


  • Evaluate prospective merchants' sites for crawling and/or their feed for integration into our ShopStyle sites
  • Advocate for the development of a custom feed created to our specifications and/or work with technical teams to increase the quality of their feed offering
  • Adhere to a rigorous checklist of activities before handing off the merchant to the engineering team for integration
  • Monitor the existing continuous content acquisition process, report and triage issues and review/verify fixes as necessary
  • Develop automated test tools and processes for continuous content acquisition for a large retail product database
  • Refine existing product categorization rules and define new rules as necessary
  • Define and measure quality metrics for new and existing data integration projects
  • Develop relationships with content engineering teams at top 20 retailers and all affiliate networks

Required Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • 5-7 years technical account management and/or online experience
  • Aggregator or ecommerce experience a plus
  • At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience in Perl and/or JAVA programming languages and Unix OS
  • Experience with product mapping for large retail catalogs and/or Google PLAs a plus
  • Extensive experience working with XML
  • Experience in debugging technical issues
  • Able to work across multiple time zones and work with offshore engineering teams
  • Able to work independently and flexibly
  • Able to multi-task
