Data Analyst Engineer:

ULIVE is seeking a Data Engineer Analyst to leverage data and analysis to drive actionable business insights and direction for the ulive.com website and distributed video network. Data drives our business decisions from building innovative products to maximizing engagement and monetization. We thrive on data and on the opportunity to push the boundaries in the products we develop.  As a member of the Data Products team, you will have the ability to solve difficult problems and devise business solutions by creatively obtaining, scrubbing, exploring, modeling and interpreting big data. The ability to balance analytical skills and coding is the key to success in this role.  You will be working in a start-up environment as an implementer; working on some of the most exciting areas of computer and information science; including information extraction, recommendation systems, social network analysis and data visualization.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct deep-dive analysis across audience, advertising, behavioral, measurement and informational data sources to extract insights and hidden opportunities that will lead to higher video monetization and engagement.
  • Think strategically around uses and correlations across complex data sets and how that use interacts with data design.
  • Perform data studies and data discovery around new data sources or new uses for existing data sources.
  • Collaborate with data infrastructure engineers on data selection, pre-processing and formatting for analysis.
  • Turn raw data into understandable industry standard metrics for use in reporting and analysis.
  • Work to push data and analysis to business teams in visually appealing and easily understood ways.
  • Influence business leaders across the organization through analysis and thoughtful insights that will impact the business KPIs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, statistics or related field or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Very strong grasp of algorithms and data structures
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analyzing and synthesizing data
  • Experience with analytics tools, environments and languages that include:
  • At least one dynamic language such as Ruby or Python, R, Hadoop, Pig, Hive, SQL, Business intelligence/data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment and Hadoop from the command line
  • Experience writing Storm topologies is a plus
  • Experience in statistical analysis of medium to large data sets
  • Good communication skills with end users and developers
  • Strong coding skills and the ability to understand how to break down an analytics process into repeatable and reusable elements
  • Demonstrate a savvy approach to solving data problems with a developer's mindset
