Job Requirements:

  • Unix System Engineer will be responsible for day to day support of company’s website systems and source code and release process
  • Responsible for packaging and delivery of the software (UNIX deployment standards)
  • Experienced with methodologies and best practices for Build/Release Software Engineering
  • Direct experience working with source control Mercurial code repository, ANT, build automation
  •  Deployment of Sun Solaris systems (service delivery and internal)
  • Apache web server configuration and operation
  • Deployment/maintenance/patching of OS, third-party, and open-source software packages
  • Automation of system and application management tasks using shell and Perl
  • Monitoring and maintenance of backup processes
  • Strong Unix shell scripting, Perl scripting on multi-platform environments
  • Experienced with Java, Solaris,  Linux OS, Windows OS, and Perl scripting
  • Interest in working with varies teams  and solving business and technical issues
  • Excellence in Reliability, this is critical role affecting the delivery of web site technology
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a growing company
  • Experience with Tomcat and Apache
  • Experience with one or more databases

Candidate Must Possess:

  • BS in Computer Science or related area
  • Minimum 4 years experience as a build/release engineer
  • Minimum 4 years experience with UNIX (Solaris preferred) system administration
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Apache web server
  • Expertise in creation, modification, and maintenance of shell and Perl scripts
  • Ability to automate system administration, monitoring, and application tasks reliably
  • Understanding of RAID storage concepts
  • Solid knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals
  • Expertise in security-related aspects of UNIX and networking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
