Underwriting Analyst - Remote

Compensation: $70,000 to $95,000 Annually

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriting Analyst to support risk assessment, pricing decisions, and portfolio performance across insurance products. This fully remote role partners with underwriting, actuarial, claims, finance, and operations teams to evaluate risk, analyze data, and deliver insights that support profitable growth and customer-focused solutions. Modern underwriting analyst roles increasingly emphasize data analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and technology-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze underwriting data to identify risk trends, profitability drivers, and growth opportunities.
  • Review applications, supporting documentation, and policy information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct data validation, quality assurance reviews, and underwriting file audits.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for underwriting leadership.
  • Support pricing, risk selection, and portfolio management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, claims, sales, and product teams to improve business outcomes.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive developments affecting insurance products.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation within underwriting systems and databases.
  • Assist with process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and data security standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Business, Finance, Insurance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced remote environment.
  • Experience with insurance, underwriting, risk analysis, data analytics, or financial services is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools, business intelligence platforms, or underwriting systems is a plus.
